When SMC first approached Maznet they did not have either a website or any real
corporate branding. They felt that to continue pushing forward the boundaries of
modern property re-development they needed to embrace the Internet and create a
company portfolio website to provide a showcase of their work. Their brief to Maznet
was simple, the site had to look 'crisp' and 'classy'.
The first stage of branding involved the creation of a new logo by Maznet
designers to match the professional and stylish work by SMC. Maznet took onboard
SMC's ideas and suggestions and produced numerous concepts that suited their requirements.
Once a logo had been chosen, Maznet proceeded to design several provisional templates
for the final website. After lengthy discussions with SMC identifying the pros and
cons of using Flash, SMC made the decision that they were happy to sacrifice search
engine rankings for a more visually appealing site especially as the majority of
their new projects already come through personal recommendations and referrals.
Maznet built a 100% Flash site using the chosen template as a base, a template that
emphasised SMC's work with heavy use of graphics and photos, with the site text
being of lesser importance.
